Very good question, I've been wondering the same thing. I think the 
answer is no. This is unfortunate since if it was possible you could 
use JS to really customize the display.
The only work around I can think of, and one that I am currently 
starting to implement, is to ask the user and then save the info in 
a cookie so that the info will be available on all future visits.
