This Mortal Coil
This Mortal Coil began as a venture among many of the "original" 4AD
players (DCD, Cindytalk, Wolfgang Press, Xmal Deutschland, Clan of Xymox,
etc. etc.) which allowed the diverse bands on the label to work together
and create an album like no one had ever heard. Sure enough, they achieved
that, with the 1984 release of "It'll End in Tears", one of the saddest
and most beautiful albums I have ever listened to.
Of course, you can't get enough of a good thing, so the crew got togther
one more time to release Filigree & Shadow, what some consider their best
album. The third album, Blood, would find many of the "newer" 4AD bands
trying their hand at keeping the spirit of TMC alive.
