Part sport, part spectacle, and just a touch burlesque, the B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls (B.A.D. Girls) are an all-female, rock'n'roll, full-contact roller derby league consisting of four teams: The S.F. ShEvil Dead; The Oakland Outlaws; The Alcatraz Escapees; and the Treasure Island Gold Diggers.
The B.A.D. Girls were founded in August of 2004 by a couple of girls taken by delusions of grandeur and one too many late-night cocktails. Currently, the B.A.D. Girls have over 50 full-time skaters and continue to grow. The league held its first bout in October of 2005 and is completing its 2006 skating season. As members of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), a skater-run organization of flat-track, all-female derby leagues, the B.A.D. Girls participated as a Division 2 league in the first national all-girl derby tournament last February in Tucson, AZ. B.A.D. placed ninth out of over 20 qualifying leagues. |

The B.A.D. Girls are a grassroots, D.I.Y. organization, built on nothing more than dedication, a passion for derby and, of course, plenty of blood, sweat and tears. As the league prepares for the 2007 season by holding fundraisers and general bouts, securing and supporting a venue for 2007 is one of the league's primary goals. The B.A.D. Girls continue to seek sponsorships, donations and the general kindness of strangers to facilitate bringing better, B.A.D.-der roller derby to the Bay Area. |

The B.ay A.rea D.erby Girls League is a proud member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association. Founded in 2004, the WFTDA promotes and fosters the sport of women's flat track roller derby by facilitating the development of athletic ability, sportswomanship and goodwill among member leagues. The governing philosophy is, "By the skaters, for the skaters." |

Women skaters are primary owners, managers, and operators of each member league and of the coalition. The operational tasks of the coalition are to set standards for rules, seasons, and safety, and to determine guidelines for the presentations of the national and international athletic competitions of member leagues. All member leagues have a voice in the decision-making process, and agree to comply with the governing body's policies.
