Day 4 Lesson Plan: Sprite Smarts
This lesson plan is for the fourth day of the Intermediate-level course, Creative Computer Exploration with Scratch.
For this lesson, we need to bring one or more audio recorders, cameras, and the Scratch board.
The students will continue work on the projects discussed in the redesign meeting in lesson 3
The students will use control structures in their scripts
The students will experiment with the Scratch board, camera, and headphones
The students will save their work with an eye to present at the beginning of the next class
Demonstrate how to use the various control structures, especially those related to sending and receiving events, and checking on the status of variables. Show how these can be used to get sprites to communicate and react to what is happening with other sprites.
Students will have the opportunity to present their projects.
Lab Time / Revision
Give students a chance to work on their projects
Encourage students to play with the scratch board, camera, and headphones
Check up on each group and compare their progress versus the designs they reworked on day 3.
10 minutes before the end of the class, help kids save their work. Let them know that halfway through the next class, we will have final presentations.
