round / significant figs. etc.

Hi

Please excuse a really basic question which may have been covered already
(many times?)...

Is there a reliable way to round off calculations to a given number of
decimal places, typically 2 for dollars/cents display etc. I tried using
round on 100 times the result and then diving by 100 again but this doesn't
work, and tends to produce nn.99999999 style results!

Any simple solutions which work out there please?
