Out of Memory Error

I run a JS that produces text scrolling across the status bar at the bottom,
I'm all sure you've seen it before!  And after a while I seem to get an out
of memory error even if I've left the sight and gone to another one!

Could some one point me to some proper coding, the site I'm using it in
right now is www.merlan.ca and I do put it in between the HEAD tags before
the BODY.  I'm running a P5 16MB RAM Win 3.11 if it helps.  I haven't tested
it in Linux yet but I have a funny feeling it will probably to the same!
